    David Fribley
    Snagged from anaideia.

David Fribley was was one of nine marines killed in fighting near Nasiriya, Iraq. He died 10 months after joining the Marine Corps. He wanted nothing more than to be a marine. Specially after September 11th. He felt he had a purpose as a marine. He wrote a letter to some friends and co-workers before going to boot camp. I'd like to share it with the people that read this.

“‘The greatest gift one can give to another, is the gift of service’ I do not know who said this but I have heard this saying before. The following is my gift to you and others; may I honor you and our fellow countrymen and women. I will earn the privilege to wear Eagle, Globe and Anchor for all those that can not. With all the strength of my fellow Marines, we shall always provide you with the comforting feeling of safety that you have each day.”

He signed his named at the end of the letter followed by — “Future: United States Marine.”

Let me add that he is one of my heroes. Thank you David Fribley.
