Because of the incredible amount of local music being performed thisweekend, Underbelly is reduced to a listing of what we consider to be fun,or interesting, or just plain good. For the unassuming musicconnoisseur, this is a week of festivals, industry showcases, going-awayparties, CD releases, welcome-home parties and indie concerts waiting to beplucked and savored. But don't be intimidated by the abundance. LetUnderbelly show you the way.

LOCALS ON THE MARCH

Political, sensual and cultish, alterna-goth rockers Morisson Poe are not the poster band for the Young Republicans, having organized two petition drives against the war in Iraq. They're more on the Post-Nuclear Fallout Party tip, and if they stay together long enough, they might actually get to organize one. But until then, these rock-activists vote on badly designed voting booths and scream at the television, just like the rest of us. This week they are calling upon all their minions to congregate for a special show in which record industry honchos will come to do their thing, possibly landing them a nice little record deal. Will it be a Paula Abdul infatuation or a Simon Cowell slur? Be there live to watch what millions of other viewers will not ever see on TV, and give Morisson Poe a full house.

Obey the calling on Friday, April 11 SATURDAY, JUNE 28TH, at the Culture Room (3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale, 954-564-1074). Also on the bill are Gods and Monsters, Groovenics, Unbecoming and the KY Deity. Show begins at 8 p.m., cover is 5 bucks ($8 if you're under 21) and it's an all-ages show.
