When I let the rabbit out I stay down with her and watch her constantly because I know she will eat the carpet, the couch, the table, the blankets, and everything else if I don't. If she runs somewhere I can't see her from my current vantage point I move so I can keep an eye on her.

But when Mum lets her out she watches TV or falls asleep on the couch so Maggie will pick at the carpet, chew up the couch, munch through wood, and basically destroy everything we own.
And when she does notice the rabbit doing it does she go up and remove her from the situation? Does she give her something that she can chew on instead? Does she even just put her back in her cage?
No. She'll sit there, watching her, and yelling, "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO CHEWING! DON'T CHEW THAT! NO!" as if that will do anything.

Because if there's one thing a rabbit understands, it's yelled English.
