Things that offend me:
1) Moulin Rouge. I had never seen it all the way through, though I had mocked it endlessly, because the parts I had seen were bad. Now that I've seen it, I can say it is quite entertaining, but offensive nevertheless. The lovers Satine and Christian are completely flippant about the situation until it comes down to the wire, making stupid decisions throughout the film. I have to say, I've always believed the notion that "No matter what, love will find a way." They could have found a way, but their idiocy is so romanticized, no one wants to see that happen, of course. Gag me with a spoon.
2) One of the new McDonald's Chicken McNuggets commercials. In this commercial, a man is talking to his girlfriend, asking her advice on something that doesn't interest her, and she sees a tall, dark, handsome stranger walk in, drawing an analogy to "they [the McNuggets] were good before, but what if something better comes along?" If they had a "good" relationship, why doesn't she care about her current boyfriend, and why is superficial attractiveness the quality upon which her relationships are chosen? The whole concept irks the hell out of me.
Just my thoughts, coming from the guy who cries during Good Charlotte music videos and LeapFrog commercials.
