The field trip for today was to Sloss furnace in B'ham. This was a good trip...it would have been better had it happened in, oh say November when it's not 90+ outside. Most of the day we were outside and walking around the old furnace, but it was interesting. The kids got to make molds and then watch them pour molten iron into them...I'm pretty sure I lost about two pounds in sweat just standing there watching them do this. Sadly the kids acted like they've never been anywhere, so that was bad, but other than that it was a good trip. I was exhausted afterwards and just wanted to sleep, but that didn't happen because only three of the kids on my van were as tired as I was. Plus, my driver is slightly paranoid and a talker, so I figured I should stay awake. I've never been one to be in the front passenger seat and fall asleep anyway, I just feel like it's my duty to stay awake for some reason...oh well. Once we got back to camp it was snack time and then we played the fun sweeping game. The kids move all the tables and chairs out of the way and I sweep, then they move them back...fun times. I really will be glad when I have kids cause I can make them do stuff like that...it'll be great. We did have one slight incident after snack, NW hit CM in the nose and it "bled" according to Cody. Yes there was a little blood and I did the good counselor thing by getting him ice and telling him to hold his head back and sit down...it wasn't that bad, but whatever. I was going to run tonight since I missed this morning, but it was just plain hot, and after being at a furnace all day I just felt the need to stay in my 80 degree house instead of running in 90 degree (feels like 100 degree) weather. I will get to the bridge in the morning though, as long as I wake up. Mom called tonight and apparently my brother's wife's house burned this morning...something about the electrical wires in the attick, I don't know. Anyway, she didn't call mom until tonight but oh well, everyone is fine and have a place to stay. I actually feel for them, that has to be awful. At least no one was home though. Mom's other news was, we should all go see Herbie, it's a very good movie. She said to see it with a "light heart" and that she, daddy, and the kids all enjoyed it. Anthony even stayed awake, which is really good for him because he tends to treat movies like church...he's out in about 5 minutes. Post a comment in response: |
