Today we went to vision land for our field trip; when I first found out who was in my group I was a little disappointed because I had 3, 6 year old girls. I love to ride the rides and do all that stuff, but I figured my girls wouldn't want to ride anything. Anyway, we get up there around 10 and of course it starts to pour, but thankfully it stopped soon. The girls say they want to ride the Ferris wheel first, so of course I assume that's about the only thing they'll ride and then we'll go to the water park and stay there for the rest of the day...which wouldn’t be bad, but I'd miss the rollercoaster and stuff. The Ferris wheel was closed since it had just poured and we head on up to the next part of the park, which is pretty much like a fair with a few extras. To my surprise the girls then tell me they want to ride another ride. It's the thing that goes in kind of an oscillating circle and goes forwards and backwards and the guy it suppose to tell you to SCREAM if you want to go faster...this guy sucked and said nothing while we were on there, but eh. They all did well on that ride, and when we were moving on to a spinning type ride ML sees the Zoomerang at the top of the hill and is like, ooh I want to ride that. Well, I'm totally stoked, but still not getting my hopes up cause having a scared of everything 6 year old niece I know once they actually see the ride up close and hear people screaming the ooh let's do that turns into...umm, no let's go back to the merry go round. I tell her we'll check it out once we get through with the other rides and see if she still wants to do it. They enjoyed the turning ride, the kiddy airplanes that you can make go up and down, and the mini coaster. Then we get to the bottom of the hill, SS has told me that she also wants to ride the zoomerang by this point. We meet up with one of the guy counselors and three blue group (oldest kids at camp) boys who are waiting for folks to come back from riding the coaster because they are too scared to ride it. So we stand there and watch the thing for one go around, SS promptly says, I think we should try the Ferris wheel again. ML, though, says no I wanna ride this yellow roller coaster first. YAY, I get to ride a ride. I didn't do too much discouraging...well none at all really, and my group of girls headed up the hill. I let M and SS on the platform (yes I informed the coaster workers that they'd be waiting there and there was a mother with our group on the other platform) and ML and I strapped in. The ride was good, not the best, but very good. It takes you up then shoots you through some loops before coming back and then shooting you through the loops backwards. Let me just tell you, ML is about one of my favorite kids at camp now...my little thrill seeker did GREAT on the ride. SS did ride the space shot or string shot or whatever it's called with ML and me, and hen we headed to the Ferris wheel, a river gorge, and the pirate ship (3 times). Lunch came after the rides and then the water park. Splash beach was good; I went down one of the slides twice with ML, twice with M, and once with CK. I wanted to ride the one straight shot free fall type slide, and so did ML but she wasn't tall enough and I never had a chance to leave my kids with someone else to go ride it alone. Oh well, it was still fun. The only suggestion I have is that we get camp issued bathing suits like we have our T-shirts because it is very easy to spot a kid in a neon green T-shirt...no so easy to spot one in a regular bathing suit when they're in a huge kid play pool with tons of other kids. We had dippin' dots after the water park...which are just freakin' awesome AND I got a funnel cake for the way back. We told the kids that it was adult food and that it tasted awful and would make them sick. Of course we still had to eat it cause I had paid for it, it was fun...I did give ML a couple bites before we got on the van though, cause she rode the rides with me. Once we got back it was about 5:30. I walk into the office at one point and hear a couple of counselors talking about SS leaving her towel. This bothered me cause SS was in my group and I had made sure they all had their stuff. J checked the van and nothing was left, so I figured SS had just told me she had everything and felt bad that I didn't check her bag to make sure. I went to make the drinks for Monday and came out of the kitchen to see a blue towel on the table. I recognize the towel because SS had cried earlier that day because her brother had taken it from her, and well, she's a crier and will pretty much cry for any reason. So I ask her if it's her towel, and she replies, well I have once kind of like that. I think it might be. *Eyes rolling* Is it yours SS? Maybe. Geez, so I asked her brother and yes, it was her towel, she didn't leave it at Visionland. Bless her heart; she's going to have to marry well because she's just in her own little world. Finally, at the end of the day LW (a supposed demon child that I really like) plopped down on the bleachers beside me and with a VERY serious look on his face, tells me, well I'm just poofed. You're poofed? Yeah, poofed like a donkey...I have no idea where that came from, but I'm definitely going to start using it. Post a comment in response: |
