Tonight the Skies are Burning
I've never seen the Northern Lights.
Not in person,
But I'm sure they're lit tonight.
In pictures, I see the grand arcs
glowing green and red,
two lovers tied together through the heavens,
straining to reach each other.
And when they find each other
love lights the galaxy.
Here, alone, I'm looking up at the night sky,
wishing I had a camera.
I'd hold the shutter open
for you to see it all:
Diana dancing with the stars.
To rope in the moon
so you could keep it in your pocket.
And I've never seen the Northern Lights,
but I know,
tonight the skies are burning.
