BigfootxCorexTour
Oh man...thanks to all who came out in support of Amounting to Nothing this weekend. It was quite a tiring roadtrip but here's the 411:
07/28/09 :: CHINLE AZ - SKATE COMP We arrived just in time to get our stuff set up on 'stage'. The guys from EDG and Thallium were loading up when we pulled in so after some quick 'what-ups' they left for Gallup. The guys were throwing down on the skate course while we were setting. Ahh, memories of skating...Boss-lady Shannon hooked us up and we threw down some Nothing. We played a short set of about 5 songs. It was a good warm-up for Kayenta.
My big booty was in Chuck's way the whole time.
Ms. Penny Lane wanted us to play the stadium.
Ms. Penny Lane came too late to enter the comp but proceeded to school everyone anyway.
Ms. Penny Lane tried to start a circle pit during Child Left Behind's set but...no one joined her.
All aboard! Ktown here we come...
07/28/09 :: KAYENTA AZ - YOUTH EXPLOSION We pulled into Kayenta and drove around trying to find the place. We finally called for directions and heard it was a mile west of town. Norvin was already there...the dude's amazing, he can find anything. So we ate some mutton and fresh tortillas while we waited for the festivites to begin. We heard the worship band - Paradigm - playing when we finished up our meal. The band played about 5 songs which were about 8 minutes each, they had a 15-minute break to change out a high-E string and proceeded to play another 30 minutes. Doug Hutchcraft spoke and had a really cool message of giving it all up. Paradigm came back and played another 20 minutes and then took another 30 minutes to get their stuff off the stage. They just took too long...
2/3 of Guilty Wilson made it to KTown. Kree's working on the movie 'Turquoise Rose' helping with the technical side. You have to listen to the girl from TRose sing the National Anthem in Navajo...we bet you can't keep a straight face. Mike and Rox played a short acoustic set but...rumor has it they're going to make it up to you KTown.
We set up our stuff in like 10 minutes and we were ready to go after a quick sound check. We smooth-talked our way and got a small crowd in front of us. You could just feel the energy level come alive and tore into Worst Song in the World. Half way though the song the crowd responded and a mosh pit broke out. With dirt flying, kids laughing and eveyone having a good time we finished out the song. Bitter Life was next and this time the crowd moved the chairs out of the way...then SHE stepped in. SHE yelled at the kids to stop moshing because of the dust. SHE told them to sit down. SHE told them stop moving around. SHE killed the energy. The kids left after SHE came in. It was disappointing...we just didn't feel right after that. We tried to pick it back up but the kids were already CRUSHED. So we finished off our set and tore our stage down in another 10 minutes. WSC and Murphey's Son (hahah, Levi) finished out the night.
SIDE NOTE - We've played many tents and so-called Youth events. One thing's almost always guaranteed - the youth are asked to behave like adults. It's rare, very rare that kids are allowed to get into the music or even encouraged to do so. It's so weird...
MUCH LOVE and THANKS to Aurelia for taking care of us in Kayenta. You really did and we really appreciate it!! We're just as sorry for the way things turned out but don't stop believing in the kids...
07/29/09 :: TUBA CITY AZ - KTBA RADIO MUSIC FEST
Ms. Penny Lane was dancing to Mercy Fall on the way to Tuba City.
Dudes...there were like 8 people there, hahaha. We sat outside the church waiting for something to happen. Come to find out there were things happening but the entrance was not an entrance. We waited at the wrong door. We set up our small acoustic set and played 4 songs to an errie-ly quite crowd. After our first song we looked up and they sat there looking back. It was akward because it happened after every song. At the end this little kid came up and wanted to buy a CD. So we loaded him up...2 CDs, a sticker and even a t-shirt as a back-to-school gift from us. The little kid was stoked...
Penny wanted a shirt too but she couldn't find her size...
07/29/06 :: FLAGSTAFF AZ - MIAMI VICE One of the worst films ever made. We spent cash on this? Go at your own risk...like Chuck said, "Colin Ferral's has two strikes against him now...Miami Vice and The New World." We walked out in middle of the New World too.
07/29/06 :: KINGMAN AZ - TEQUILA BOB'S
Chasing the sunset on Interstate 40. Penny crashed after staying up late in KTown.
We had Will the promoter worried because we didn't keep in touch with him but we made his day when we walked in. There were a number of changes going on in the venue mgt and one of them was removing all the sound eqp from the place which wasn't good for the bands obviously. So they had to use these two 12-inch PAs. Two bands played before us...WE HEADLINED! Our first HEADLINING show!! We put the honor to use by cranking out the hits man. There was a fight during one of the other band's set and there was a fight during ours. We felt like the dudes in that one movie with Patrick Swayze...Roadhouse. We couldn't hear the vocals and we heard that crowd wasn't able to hear them that good either. Afterwards there were lots of 'sorry about thats' going around due to the sound but it was cool. We were accepted in Kingman so hopefully we'll be able to go back soon...very soon. Maybe a stop on the way to Las Vegas, NV or San Diego, CA.
Dream big...

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT...we're loading up our August schedule so keep checking back!
