01. "tignan mo si jade. mukhang dalagang pilipina." look at jade. he looks like a young filipina woman. manelle, my officemate apparently was referring to my hair: i had it tied up in a soft pony at the back, and wore a wire headband to keep most of the stray hair in place. fuck, it's difficult controlling unruly hair like mine. i don't know what manelle meant, exactly. she just said it in jest while i passed by her workstation on my way to the john. i wasn't exactly looking, or feeling, fabulous today. 02. "so you shouldn't sneeze because you'll loose weight." i spent the remainder of the afternoon with pinay, another officemate, taking photos of the sunset in manila bay. the sky waas cloudy and the sea was rough: the wave kept splashing to the baywalk area. and this is manila bay we're talking about; you wouldn't want too much of that water getting into your skin. still, we managed to talk a couple of photos. we had dinner in this barbeque place afterwards, and she commented on my being thin and not getting weight, despite eating more food than she did. "i don't know where the stuff i eat go to," i complained. "so you shouldn't sneeze because you'll loose weight," she joked. "don't say that," i snapped back.
