| PAID ACCOUNTS? |
[09 Sep 2007|12:41pm] |
|
When are paid accounts being offered? I know there's been talk of it for the past three to four years. I would be more than willing to pay for an account because I find that the regular accounts are really limiting, especially the ten friends limit, which I know a lot of people really dislike. I know tons of people who would be willing to pay for this feature...

I think that Blurty should allow posties to embed videos in their journals. I know that it can be a security issue, but as this is an adult community and we should be able to make that decision for ourselves.

Could Blurty have an Instant messenger?? Kinda like Yahoo and AOL and all the others do?? It would be great. Just a suggestion.

When will Blurty be introducing the 'change name' feature? I would like to suggest that they do, soon. Thanks.

| Friends list |
[18 Nov 2004|12:13am] |
All my entries are friends only so I need to add people back who have added me to their friends list but have run out of places! Would it be possible to allow more than 10 friends?
Also when are paid accounts going to start as I'd pay simply to be able to have a larger friends list and have a few extra personalise options.

It would be nice to have the login screen, or anywhere else that you enter your username and password to be encrypted. I noticed that Live Journal does it and I think it's a great idea.

If you type a really long word in a journal post or title (or maybe somewhere else too), the Blurty system breaks it up into smaller words with the <wbr> tag. This is all well and good in HTML, but in XHTML and XML it breaks the page, because it should have a closing </wbr> tag or be self closing like lt;wbr />. I put in a Support Request and they told me to make a suggestion, so here it is.

| Todo list navigation/calendar highlight, skip empty days, RSS friends, month view community posts |

It'd be really handy to have a link to the todo list page in the logged in navigation menu. There's even a lovely little space just aching to be filled to the left of the calendar.
That's given me another idea - how about dates with deadlines for todo list entries being able to be highlighted via the calendar view style system? Maybe set a variable to a colour value that depends on %done - I'm thinking green for 100% with yellows and oranges in between to red for 0%. Perhaps have a set of different colour themes to chose from.
Another thing: in journals with only occasional entries it's a pain using the day view to browse through. It would be great if there was a flag you could set to skip empty days when navigating to the next or previous page, or maybe have both a "next day, previous day" navigation thingy and a "next day with entries, previous day with entries" navigation thingy. I wondered whether it would be possible on an empty day page to reload the next page in the right direction with Javascript but then I read that Javascript isn't allowed in styles so I thought no more about it.
One last thing for now: it would be great to be able to add RSS (or Atom) feeds in a way that would make them show up on your friends page, even if you didn't have the ability to add Blurty comments. If you could add comments, it could be useful for communities for feeds to be added to their posts.
Actually one more thing: on the month view it says "Here are the subjects of all posts by user claudiusmaximus in August, 2004." - this is slightly inaccurate as it doesn't display posts in communities. I think it should display posts made by the journal owner in other community journals, because otherwise it is a nightmare trying to find posts that you've made in the past if you can't remember which community you posted them in.
That's it for now, really.

Blurty provides an RSS 0.91 feed for each journal - mine is at http://www.blurty.com/users/claudiusmaximus/rss. The problem is that the feed is very minimal - it doesn't even have the date of the entries - so it isn't very useful. What would be much better is an RSS 2.0 feed instead, or an option of various types of feed.
I used the Blurty style system to make an RSS 2.0 feed, I wonder if Blurty admin would like to incorporate this (in some modified form) into Blurty? The styleid is 117685, you can use it with an URL like http://www.blurty.com/customview.cgi?user=claudiusmaximus&styleid=117685 replacing claudiusmaximus with the username of the journal you want to feedify. I'm going to start work on a version for friends pages, I'll edit this post with the styleid when I get it finished.
EDIT: here are the RSS 2.0 styles I made:
- 117685 - claudiusmaximus-lastn-rss20-full - the latest journal posts, only works if all your posts are valid XML
- 117695 - claudiusmaximus-lastn-rss20-headlines - just date and subject
- 117694 - claudiusmaximus-friends-rss20-full - the latest journal posts, only works if all your friends' posts are valid XML
- 117696 - claudiusmaximus-friends-rss20-headlines - just date, subject and poster

| Phone Posts |
[16 Aug 2004|09:01pm] |

As a former livejournal member I am accustomed to the "phone posts" option in which paid members of livejournal were allowed to post entries by phone. I thoroughly enjoyed this privilege and as a new Blurty user would love to see this become available. I fully realize that it takes some time and money to get phone numbers for the member to call and be able to post and I think that if other members are as excited as I that they would be willing to help get the ball rolling on this. Just a suggestion. Thanks, Moriah

Are there any plans to enhance the Blurty styles system to allow user-created styles for these pages? In order of priority, the ones I would most like first, using my journal for examples:
- Month
- Entry
- To-Do
- Icons
- Memories
- Profile / Full Profile
I know implementing these would not be entirely trivial, but I can't see any impossibilities. Perhaps I could help code it? I have some 1337 skillz ;-) (Well, perhaps not 1337, but at least 1335 or so...)
(insert marketing spiel here about how it would set Blurty apart from other LiveJournal-based sites in a really good way)

i have no idea if this suggestion has been made before considering i just joined recently, but i would really enjoy having a more vast selection of blurty themes and mood icons since i am only a free user and are limited on what i can do to make my blurty impressing.

I think that there should be a way to add music to your blurty. Through an override, or a blurty tool without having to make a style.

for livejournal, there is a program called lj-book that allows you to convert your journal into a pdf. apparently, there is nothing like that for blurty.
since this is my only source of journaling, i would really like some way to be able to convert my entries into a pdf. please look at my support request to get more information

| Style creation |
[15 Mar 2004|10:18am] |
|
On the style creation page, there is a drop-down menu listing system styles on which to base a new style. It would be convenient if that menu included the user's own styles as well as the system styles. At present, if I want to base a new style on one I've made previously, I have to go to the edit styles page or the style browser to look up the style ID number. I'll grant that I'm lazy, but it would be cool to save the extra step.

| Support: FAQ References |
[18 Feb 2004|04:37pm] |
Sometimes while working in support, you run across a request that needs, or could best use, a whole FAQ category referenced. I think that it could be a good thing to change the currently unlinked items in the "Reference FAQ" field that set apart different FAQ sections (such as "[ Customization ]") to actually reference their whole respective FAQ category instead of referencing nothing at all.
Sorry if this is confusing, but I can't think of any better wording.

| Friends list issues |
[18 Feb 2004|12:54pm] |
|
We need the option to remove ourselves from other's friends lists. It would be a wonderful idea for those who are plagued with strangers adding them to their (strangers) friends lists. As it is now, we have no way to prevent that and I'm sure it annoys a lot of people. So please, someone, implement this some day soon.

certain other journal sites automatically add news to all users friends lists when they create their journal.
maybe Blurty should consider doing something like this, as many users seem to be unaware that a news community even exists...

| Speed? |
[09 Dec 2003|05:55pm] |
Blurty's servers are being bogged down by teenie boppers. I think it's time to bring out the paid accounts and have PAs on their own server (I know that I am willing to pay more for faster speeds) and it's time to do away with Free Accounts and start with invites. This is the only way that we can assure that once someone under 18 it kicked that they won't return, because now they are just coming back and making another journal and clogging up the system. And soon everyone will leave because they have lost the patience that is required to use this site, because it takes 5 minutes to bring up any page here. Please do something soon, I don't want to leave Blurty but I just might if nothing is done about the incredibly slow servers.
