Hey everyone!
Just wanted to introduce myself, and let you know that Wicca's been calling me for about 3 yrs now. I'm new so any and all support and info will be much appreciated. If anyone knows of a good book to get me started, please let me know.

Raised christian, but started reading up on other beliefs a few years ago. I love middle eastern views. What surprised me though was all the misconceptions christians have about other beliefs. To be honest, that pissed me off because I was being lied to, and that is so unfair, they're just name calling. Slowly I left chistianity. It's a painful process. I still have my doubts sometimes. If hell exsists, so do not want to be there, but it just doesn't seem right. For a while now I've had this question in my head; "Is someone in my family into Wicca?" I have a feeling there is, but my family is so secretive and seperate that it might be impossible to find out. I think one of my cousins knows about spell casting, gotta see if she's willing to talk about that with me.

Well, I think that's enough of an intro.

I'm looking for some feed back. I have a friend, she is wiccan, but she tries to be this tough, violent, and agressive person. I have tried talking to her about how she needs to change these tendances, but she hasn't listen so far. Also she likes to boast about how powerful of a witch she is. I'm afraid that she is going to hurt her self or someone else, and I feel that she needs to change these problems before she progresses in praticeing... How do I tell her all this?

Thanks everyone

I have a question and I want you to be HONEST in your answer. THINK about the questions.

What is your religion/denomination/spiritual path etc?

Why did you choose to follow the particular path you follow?

What makes your path different from the millions of others?

What comfort/peace/security etc does it offer you?

Think about yourself as a person, and how you follow your religion and what it offers you, do you think someone that is the exact opposite of you could find the same peace that you do?

Most importantly, how do YOU as an individual define the idea of "evil" as compared to the general definition of your chosen religion? Where does evil come from and why does evil exist?

my answers )

This is being posted to a large amount of religious/spiritual communities on Blurty so if you get this on your friends page 200 times I’m sorry!

Hey all, I joined the group... a while ago, but I don't check blurty often enough. Hmmm... I ollow my own path, but it runs very close to that of the Druid path, especially that of OBOD. I'm 18, live in MA, USA. I love who I love be they male or female. My current companion is male though. I've been following closely on druidism for the past 5 years, but I have not joined OBOD yet. I'm hoping to join soon though.

Uh... hmmmm, I just follow what feels right basicly. I don't think there is one set path, I think everyone has their own path and we just sometimes have crossovers or paths that come close together at times.

That's about it for me for now. TTYL!!!

Hey
I'm Asaia (A-sigh-ah) lots of people aren't sure how to say it so there it is.
Umm.. Well I'm a Junior in High School, I've been studying for about 6 years now.
I learned from my grandma, I specialize in herbs and healing. I studied both light and dark. I stick to the Wiccan rede but am not Wiccan. If I were to pick the Wiccan path closet to what I believe in it would probably end up being a cross between Dianic and Buckland's Sexan path.
I studied Wicca for 3 years before deciding it was too white magick for me.
I do blood magick but not sacrifice, I only use my own blood. I celebrate light sabbat and am very strict on ethics when it comes to both magickal and non magickal realms.
Non Religious things about me:
I tend to be fairly liberal. I am the founder of the GSA at my school. I am an activist for Religious Tolerance, Abortion Rights, Women's equality rights, I live in the Theatre and Write Poetry and Short Stories that generally get published with a rate of 2 per every 3 I send in so that's pretty cool. Other than that I'm pretty straight forward

Hello [25 Oct 2003@09:28pm]

I've never got around yet to posting here. I think I'm a bit younger than many of the people here seeing as I'm 14. It always seemes to me though that my mind was maybe 'older' than me. If that makes any sense at all. I seem to understand, and am a little more open-minded than those who are of my age. But enough of that.

I've been interested in the subjects of Paganism for about 3 years. And just yesterday, I told my parents about my views in religion and how I felt towards Paganism. To my suprise, they were interested in it. Mostly my father since he was very less religious than my step-mother who firmly believes in God. I showed him a page from the "Book of Shadows" that I keep that has information on what the religion is about. He told me that I should get some books on it and he would look into reading them too(after I told him about how I was afraid of getting books on the subject since I didn't think they would approve. Quite the contrary). Not the reaction I expected. But it was a good reaction. It makes me happy knowing now that I don't have to hide it anymore. Which made me feel bad, keeping a secret from my parents, and also, in a way, it made me feel like I wasn't being very faithful to my beliefs. But in the end, a few tears were shed on my part. Good tears. It took me a while to actually come out and say that I was Pagan, but I'm glad I did. It makes things a lot easier now.

Well, thanks for listening to the events of my weekend.

my friends right now are debating about religion and I have to ask something. What were the roles of the early church in regards to women? Did they have equal roles? In my readings into paganism, there was a significant decrease in the roles of women in regards to the church and in society. Please, someone check me if I am wrong. The thing about this is that my friend, granted he is a male, is saying that women were subjucated because of culture and not religion. He is also saying that in pagan times women were less respected than they were when Christianity started to convert pagans. He also says that Christianity also tried to only really convert the judaens (spelling?) and not the pagans....I am confused and he will not listen to anything that I (or my other friend-- who is studying paganism like I am) has to say. He keeps saying that that is how it is discussed in his baptist church...AAAaaahhh!!!! I am not even arguing anymore. Will someone please respond to this and explain women's roles in the early church (christianity) compared to paganism?????

keep you all updated as to what else he might cook up

I'm new to paganism and wicca and witchcraft (I hesitate to incorporate all three of those things into just one word). I have been studying it for the past couple of months and know that I am far from making any decisions about it or anything else for that matter. I wish to ask those of you out there (who are more experienced and have read more, etc) what you thought of Raymond Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft. I have been reading it for a while now and taking notes on the things I am interested in and feel what's relevant to me. I am finding the book a little egotistical and biased in some ways that is a little unsettling. I am taking everything that he says in the book with a grain of salt, because I am old enough to distinguish open-minded thoughts and opinions opposed to biased writing, etc. I will continue to work from the book because it does have the general information about things and I can gleen what I can from that. I also want to know if there is anything else that you can buy that has the same info but a little more in depth. Can anyone help?

Hello everyone, im new to this community!
Ever since i was young, i always felt... out of place. Like, the family i had, wasnt my real family they were just there. And, i always felt different. Like i had this glow of magic that floated around me, and that ran through my veins. Every life and death situation ive ever had, i always lived. And i have ALWAYS felt connected with nature, that i was natures child. I used to go over to my friends house and we would go and play down by the creek near her house. We would lay under the Weeping Willow tree and talk for hours. And i always felt at home, and peaceful. But whenever i went home, i felt uncomfortable.
So anyway, i have been interested in wicca for EVER. I realy feel that thats my true religion. I just dont know how to become a wiccan. So, thats why i joined this community. I also have a really bad obsession thats kinda getting out of hand. I feel like i need him. Or ill die. And, i almost did... But that story is for someone who wants to hear it.
So thanks for your time, and if anyone can help me, please comment<3

[ music | Some TV jingle... ]

Gmorning all.

This is my first post, so I'll introduce myself. I'm a senior in high school. I became a solitary Wiccan two years ago, and decided after a year that I was really a Pagan, not a Wiccan. I no longer practice magick, but I pray on occasion. I'm trying to get back into being a faithful person, but I've had a bad time lately and it's been hard to get back into believing.

Out of curiosity, what does everyone here think of Silver Ravenwolf? I read her stuff when I was younger, and realized as I got older that she had lied about a lot of information in her books. It just really scares me sometimes that probably a third of the people calling themselves witches or Wiccans or Pagans right now are really fluff bunnies who don't know the first thing about the religion they claim to belong to.

Here's few websites to visit when bored and looking for a laugh. Both are anti-Pagan, and rather funny.

www.exposingsatanism.org

www.chick.com

Outta curiosity, are Satanists allowed in this community?

That's all I have to say right now. It was nice meeting you all.

Blessed Be, and Gnite.

Hello!

I am fifteen years old and I have been reading about and practising Wicca for about four years now. Rarely do I have the opportunity to communicate with other pagans. I would like to ask a few questions and see if anyone will give me an answer.

1.) Does anyone have any insights into their past lives? I was given by a psychic at a fair a summary of one of mine. Has anyone else had any such experiences and if so, what is your take on them? Does anyone know of any spells or rituals for recalling past lives?

2.) Is it difficult to go from being a Solitary to being a coven member? I have been working alone for as long as I have been practising but when I am older would it be a tough transition for me to join a coven?

3.) In your opinion, is an altar essential? I read a book which said that often in times past people would not keep their altar erected after the ritual was finished for fear of being diescovered as a witch. I don't know how true that is and I don't know what sorts of altars others have. I myself had an alter a couple of years ago in my bedroom but I dismantled it when I realised that family members were coming into my room when I wasn't there. I didn't feel comfortable leaving such important items unguarded. So, is it all right to merely use a temporary altar?

4.) If you are invited to go to a ceremony of another religion, namely a Christian ceremony, how do you react? I have always gone to the weddings, christenings, etc. of my own volition simply because of the assertion that all spirituality is sacred. I have said the Lord's prayer along with the rest of the congregation out of respect for my family and their beliefs. I figured since no one has opposed my spiritual path, I should not disrespect theirs. Am I the only one who does this though? Are there any other pagans who will minimally participate in the occasional church service or something similar for the sake of family or friends?

That's all for now. Please reply if you have anything to say on any of these subjects. I am eager for your thoughts.

Okay I am tres tres new at this. I was Catholic until I was ten and well I really have my doubts about it I want to explore different religions and I have been interested in paganism and Wiccan religions. From what I have read about Wicca it has a lot of views that I have myself. So I thought that joining this community would help me into the insight of others who have chosen this religion. If anyone would help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. I want to learn as much as I can before I make my desision on my religion. Thank you. Cheers to all, Jennalee.

Ok I have a question about wands......today I was just wandering around, and came across an awesome store and fell in love with this cute wand in the window. It is mad out of clay, and embedded with different stones, and one the two ends at quartz. My roomie has a wand she made herself from willow. I suppose my question is.....is a clay wand worthless and just "pretty".....or can it be just as special as a wand someone makes themselves?

Do you feel that within Paganism, Prayer is overlooked? Do you think that, if it is, it is because it is such a larger part of other faiths that Pagans sometimes try to push away from, or that magick and ritual are over hyped?

Hi everyone.....I've been interested in magic and Wicca for a long time, but this week has been the first week I've decided to seriously explore it. I really know barely anything on the subject, and I have what may be a very silly question. What is the difference between witches, wiccans, pagans, and druids? Once I know the difference.....I'm sure I will have many more questions to follow. Thanks!......have a wonderful night.
