I saw the last hour of the latest star trek movie which got me thinking, why wouldn't they always go max warp speed. If I can drive 200 MPH all the time, I would...

'Ello 'ello 'ello ... heh, go this - a community for geeks... I'm excited! [Big Kev impression, for any Aussies out there who know who he is. Anyway....]

[x] Story behind the screenname: Basically, I wanted an early adopter, and this was the best one that anyone was willing to give me. Riveting story, huh? ;laughs;
[x] Top 5 bands: The dreaded question...
+Evanescence
+Killing Heidi
+Epsilon Zero
+Cradle of Filth
+Space Like Alice
There's more but they'll have to do, hehe.
[x] Bottom 5 bands: Ooh, this is a nasty. I really truly like most all bands.
[x] What makes you geeky?:Well, I'm a total elitist grammar-whore [a quiz told me so - and I believe it! ;laughs;], I write stories and the like, adore learning new things, and spend *way* too much time on the Internet. Also, I really follow my own path, and don't give two funky trees what anyone else thinks.
[x] Special talents or quirkinesses:I'm a linguaphile, play the flute, laugh waaaay too much, make up my own words. Oh, and I tend to break into my own gibberish language halfway through sentences. I enjoy correcting people's spelling and grammar too, so *watch out!* ;laughs;
[x] Photo:; Sob sigh;, I have no picture...
[x] Basic facts about yourself (age, location, hobbies, etc.):Um.. My name's Nyrrah ... I'm an Aussie? heh, I don't know any more about me .... I am a mystery....! hehe
[x] Whatever else you'd like to tell us:Snergle.

What makes me Geeky? That would be my tendency to listen as opposed to running my mouth all the time. I am often overlooked in a crowd because I am quiet, but usually when I am spotted good times ensue. I don't have a lot to say most of the time, but occasionally I will let loose.

Asking me what my top five bands is would be like asking Bubba what his favorite kind of shrimp was. It fluxuates a great deal, but Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Portishead, Tool, and Poison the Well seem to be a steady 5.

My least favorite bands are probably Limp Bizkit, Averil Lahoweverthefuckyouspellthat, Insane Clown Posse, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion.

My name is Nicholas, and that is where Nickolati came from, in a sense. Its actually my Muslim name. It was Abu Jamal Shataka Nickolati X Squared... but we shortened it to Nickolati.

I am 20 years old. I live in Tennessee.

That is all you get for free...

By the way... Stupid Girl is a Garbage song. I know this because I want to bang Shirley Manson, their singer.

[ music | Stupid Girl by...I don't remember who sings it! ]

Story behind screenname: It was something I came up with when I was trying anything to get an aol screenname I am obsessed with science fiction and in one show I watched a guy told a story about how everyone is really made up of Star Dust from when the universe was created. I like that Idea. I keep the 8212 because I just wanna have one name for everything (82=birthyear, 12=birthmonth)
Top 5 Bands: It's so hard to choose, my favorite band is Everclear but the rest of the spots are sorta up for grabs
Bottom 5 Bands: If I don't like it I turn it off.
What makes me geeky: In elementary school I was obsessed with Star Trek, in second grade or so we were suppsed to make 'space ships' for an art project. I made the enterprise. Since then I have become obsessed with many, many other things and have a tendency to spout useless information and factoids about these things during conversations i.e this asking what people like and dislike reminds me of the episode of Naruto where Kakashi asks them to introduce themselves in a similar fashion...it was very funny.
Special talents and quirkiness: No speciaal talents really except my ability to memorize and regugitate completely useless information
Age Location Hobbies: Hi I'm Katie I live in Kansas and I'm 20. I go to school at the University of Kansas where I am majoring in Aerospace Engineering. My great goal in life is to be able to respond to the comment 'It's not rocket science' by saying 'yeah, that I would understand'. I am currently obsessed with:Star Wars, StarTrek, LOTR, Anime and many other things.
I don't have much else to say...nice to meet you all!

kadiliman
[Story Behind Screen-Name] Long time ago when I played MUD(somebody please say that you've heard of this), I had a problem creating character names. Then I stumbled upon using regular tagalog words. Kadiliman was one of them. It means darkness/twilight.
[Top 5 Bands] I listen to them all. Mostly alternative rock, pop, some hiphop and a little bit country(not really, but it sounds better to add it).
[Bottom 5 Bands] Can't think of any except for Dave Matthews. I have a CD stuck in my car's CD changer and I keep on forgetting to take it out. So everytime I run out of music, I have to listen to Dave Matthews.
[What Makes Me Geeky?] I watch "Enterprise" and hope it gets better. I can argue who is a better superhero for more than 10 minutes. I'm still annoyed at Harry Potter trophy/portkey story. I can't wait for the new live action Transformer movie. But I could just be immature and not really a geek.
[Age] Almost 29
[Location] Los Angeles, CA, USA
[Occupation] Software Engineer
[Special talents or quirkinesses]: I can do the "live long and prosper" sign with either hand.

I forgott to mention I'm currentl researching for my thesis in which I'm trying to find out if the internet really exists, if so how and where. And why do so many of us prefer cyberspace to the real world (I know I do!) is it due to the fascination of the machine or a break-down in our RW society? If any one has any thoughts on this subject (no matter how loose) I'ld like to hear.

[ music | Clubbed to Death (Kurayamino Mix) by Rob D ]

[x] Story behind the screenname: Well when I was about 7 a drunken hippie guy my dad was friends with used to sing 'Kimmy Wimmy Coco Pop' to me instead of 'shimmy shimmy whatever' since my name is Kim..and the name just stuck....so kwcp it is! Hippies are a particularly crazy breed..
[x] Top 5 bands: Relient K, Evanescence, The Starting Line, Something Corporate, Incubus
[x] Bottom 5 bands: Anything I don't like. Which is a list too long to bother typing out.
[x] What makes you geeky?: Oh God, I was practically born into geekdom... my whole family is made up of nerds. In fact, I didn't learn to read off See Spot Run sorta books, I read my parents old Star Wars and Spiderman comics. I've been a computer nerd ever since we got our first personal computer when I was in kindergarten. I've been addicted to the internet since about 2nd grade and an AIM whore since the ripe ol age of 11. I collect swords and airsoft guns. I carry around a lightsaber (blue or purple) and frequently wear my matrix-eqe glasses. I am in love with Link from the legend of Zelda series of games. I can play the ocarina with mad skill. I own at anything Nintendo. And Harry Potter? He's the shiznit. oooh yeah. jeeze, all that up there sounds like I'm a self-consumed and egotistical bitchgeek. errr.. heh.
[x] Special talents or quirkinesses: um, I draw fanart and write fanfiction for fun. I enjoy making friends journal layouts and icons as well. Hope to make a few short films over the summer. I also sing in a band-thing.
[x] Photo, if available: click?! )
[x] Basic facts about yourself: I'm 17 and live in a hicktown northeast of Houston, Texas. I used to work at Gamestop but now work at a retarded clothing store. Hopefully soon to start work at Barnes and Noble..

[Story Behind Screen-Name]: It's latin for Dear/beloved Goddess. it's two words but it's nice as one. pronounced care-a-dee-a.
[Top 5 Bands]: um I don't listen to bands
[Bottom 5 Bands]:. see above
[What Makes Me Geeky?] I go on three telnet talkers which people would have a hard time understanding. I know/have met many of the people listed on londongeek.org so geek-by-proxy as well. I'm completely leftwing and like getting in a bit of trouble with authority if it makes me laugh (especially if they're upset and can't do anything about it cuz of the law so :P) I beta-tested Microsoft Network (MSN). the orginal thing before it went webbase and all the AOL-rejects came flooding on, destroying our lovely community. I occasionally write webpages and hate bloated programs/webpages/flashpages unless it's amazingly funny or good animation. My opinion, if it can't be done with HTML 4.0 with no stylesheets, you're playing with it too much. Just put it down and put some goddamn content in!
[Age] 21
[Location] London, UK
[Occupation] geeky housewife/unpaid servant :) (if anyone's read this week's dilbert.com comics)
[Special talents or quirkinesses]: erm, I crochet a lot and get a lot of slack for having an "old woman" hobby. I make mostly blankets or cutesy stuffed animals.
photo here )
[whatever else you'd like to tell us]: vague background: I'm American, i had an internet boyfriend then met my now husband (a Brit) on a trip to the UK, and i've been visiting the UK since december '97 and have been mostly living here since september 2000 when i came over here to do a foundation course in art and design and eventually went onto photography for 3 whole months before i became far too cynical to carry on with the pretentiousness. It's interesting how there's some very nongeeky sounding people on here. it's all different personal definitions of geek i guess.

FAQ? [11 Jun 2003|04:06pm]

bitterfly
[x] Story behind the screen name:

There is no huge story behind my Blurty name. I am fixated on butterflies and the whole metamorphisms process and I am bitter, so uh, here we are.

[x] Top 5 bands:

ugh. I have very eclectic tastes and favorites change every ten minutes. Some of them are: The Pixies, This Mortal Coil, The Dead Kennedy's, Nirvana, Stump, Tom Waits (yeah 4+2= 5 so shush dammit)

[x] Bottom 5 bands:

uhh I have no bottom 5 bands... if I dislike music, I just don't listen to it.

[x] What makes you geeky?:

I collect things like pez dispensers, 1950s stuff, and toys, I read too much, I am prone to eccentricity, and I am very happy being isolated much of the time. Primarily what makes me 'geeky' is my lack of willingness to buy in to any predefined social rules.

[x] Special talents or quirkinesses:

I am obsessed with my dog, I own and am trying to invent my own way to play a mini accordian, I am outspoken, I am a voracious reader and have a nose for the best dumpster's and thrift stores.

[x] Basic facts about yourself (age, location, hobbies, etc.):

HA! stopasl.com
I'm 31, Canadian, female, a chat addict, and a on-line journal addict. I am also a body size acceptance activist and a feminist. Most of my hobbies involve playing with my dog, or drinking excessive amounts of coffee and writing in my "secret" journal.

[x] Whatever else you'd like to tell us:

I am 2% cookie dough, 8% gasoline, 20% beeswax, 50% h2o, & 20% Zesty Doritos...

I long to be one of those sexy 50ft tall women from the sexploitation films

I love muttering to myself while wandering alleys looking for treasures

I am instantly liked by most small children and animals

[Story Behind Screen-Name]: I got the nick-name Calf* from my best friend at high-school it kind of comes from sounding a bit like Carl and the Steve Coogan character 'Paul Calf'. It stuck ever since and I use the name Calf all the time.
[Top 5 Bands]: That's hard I can think of 1,000's. This morning I was listening to Lou Reed. My roots lie in punk and metal, but I'm into electro, classical, reggae, industrial, goth, techno, jazz, blues, 60's, ska, the list is endless...
[Bottom 5 Bands]: I dislike very little other than cheesy pop music (Cheeky Girls, Will Young etc.)
[What Makes Me Geeky?] I guess I was allways a geek, (I was only a C grade student at school though) I'm a bit of a computer nerd and I like science!
