What do ya'll think of the issue of shaving? This came up because I was looking at some other feminist communities and there's one called hairypits. How is it related to feminism/femininity, if at all? Do you shave? Where? How is a woman's shaving compared to that of a man shaving his beard, for example? Just wanted to stimulate discussion. I notice no one's posted in a while. ;)

"The National Organization for Women is sidestepping the uproar ignited when its Morris County chapter president opposed a double-murder charge in the Laci Peterson case."

That's interesting enough- but what about this one???

"Farmer would not say whether NOW opposes fetal homicide statutes that exist in at least 23 states. The laws have been opposed by some pro-choice groups even though legal abortions are exempted from prosecution."

So if a man decided to punch a pregnant woman in the stomach, and ending her baby's life, the only thing he should be charged for would be assault and battery? I think fetal homicide statutes are in the woman's favor, don't you?

FGM [21 Mar 2003|03:41pm]

illicit
BBC story on Reversing female circumcision/FGM. The story claims that up to 30 countries in Africa practice this atrocity.

Here’s another story from the BBC on what kind of prison term parents who take their daughters out of the country for FGM can face.

Thoughts?

Help Women Across The World [11 Mar 2003|09:15am]

I feel that since most women in America have more than most other women in the world, we should try to help other disadvantaged women across the world. I mean, look at the women who live in India or other third world countries...

Any Thoughts?

Hi, I got a message that I should join. I consider myself a feminist but I do not hate all men. I just dislike sexist jerky men. Most men are nice and understand feminism. I do agree with the discussion that women and men aren't completely equal yet.

I believe that Men need Women and Women need Men. I don't think we should isolate and or get rid of all men. Not men are evil, just like not all women are good...
