    New to the community
Hi, my name is Colette, and I am sixteen years old. I started playing trumpet in fifth grade, and got really into it in middle school. I did solo competitions, various district bands, and compititions with my own middle school symphonic and jazz bands (as first chair in both). However, in ninth grade, I was forced to quit, due to, among other things, a move to a new area and a large schedule conflict. I stayed out of band for the past two years, but I am doing wind ensamble with my high school this fall. Why am I here? Since I haven't really participated in any band-related activities, I'd like to get back into the band "loop". I hope to make some friends in this community, so don't hesitate to leave a note!

    Until later, adios.

You would never quit band! You would rather jump
off a cliff and land in a pool of sharks than
quit band! I'm with you! The very best of the
band are y'all! You've probably made it into
All-District or even All-State Honors Band!
    Way to go!

oh my god.. i can't believe i've found a band dork community. woo!

hm.. i guess i should say about me and my band-ness. hello, im lindsay. and i play bass clarinet (bouncy balls!) in marching band and unfortunetly, concert band.
our marching band is pretty good i guess. we participated in USSBA and BOA this year. didnt do too good in BOA, but got 1st place at the USSBA thing, i think.. our bands green hope (falcon regiment) and our show was called "dreamscapes" this year. we're in NC, and from what i know, alot of people have heard of us.. last year we did a show called internal combustion (the car show.. as everyone called it), which did really good in our competitions. hopefully next year i'll be section leader!
as i said, im in concert band.. soo close to being in symphonic! oh well, next year. i used to play clarinet, and switched to bass clarinet at the beginning of summer.
i saw someone say that they maybe going to the st. patricks day parade in NYC.. so are we! woo. um, i guess if anyones heard of us, tell me.. and here's our website:
www.greenhopeband.com (the layout was made by a b'clar! woo)

haha well yea, im a major band dork obviously.. pretty proud. bye

i dont think i ever posted in here. I've ment to, but didnt. anyway:

    my name; shannon
    school; sayreville High school
bands; concert - jazz - marching .. i WANT to be in the pit for the musical.. but you have to be GOOD to be in that.. and well.. im not.. good. : )

instruments; mostly now i play only trombone + baritone. but i used to play flute, and clarinet and i can play some guitar and drums too.

++ I like trombone the best.. cause I like Jazz Band. I like the music for Jazz Band, it's a lot better than the concert band poop.
but I like Marching Band the best, because you dont just have to sit there .. you actually have to work.

    >> our show this year was amazing. (for mb). The music was from Jesus Christ Superstar!! It was grrreat!
and uh.. the marching was good. and considering half the band is made up of the middle schoolers ( 7th graders!!).. and then uh.. yeah. At our championships we missed a score of 90 by 4 tenths of a point. : (.. which really sucks, cause if we got 90 our band director would have shaved his head. : ).

well, i'll stop boring you know.
    bye

    hey
hey im new, here is some info about me. my name is caitlin. im 14 years old. i love band, i play alto saxophone in marching, concert and jazz. im a freshman, i play at bordentown regional highschool. in marching band this year during the season we did songs from the show Blast, we played Balero, Land of Make Believe, and Malaguena. we entered out first ever competition this year at Jackson Highschool (the best marching performance ive ever seen they were amazing.) we scored a 69.8 on our first competition, the highest score in NJ ever for a 1st time competiting band. next year we are laying the same show except taking out Balero and putting in Appalachian Springs, we plan on entering 9 competitions next year. i love playing the alto sax, ive been playing it since 6th grade. i also play violin. id love to play soprano sax if i could get my hands on one. my band director majors in saxophone, its awesome. my brother is a senior and plays tenor sax. so i pretty much can play that too. i just had my winter concert last night, it was awesome. anyways..im always up to talk..i have my own band community too called I'm With The Band (http://www.blurty.com/~im_with_theband)
    feel free to join.

    hey guys, what up
hey band guys. what up? i'm really ecstatic that i found all these marching band communities and whatnot, marching band and band itself is awesome. i'll share some info:

i'm hayley, i'm a freshman and i march mellophone. i play french horn during concert season. mello is okay. i really do admire the sousaphones, cuz they're awesome and they kick my ass. and all percussion, especially tenor drums cuz those are the shizzat. gosh. i wish i could play percussion so bad. sousa would be awesome to march. i'll take that into consideration. im a member of The Pope High School Marching Band from Marietta, Ga. this year we had 3 competitions, one we placed 2nd, another 1st, and for our boa in st louis we placed 10th in finals. we're national champions or something, gosh im not really sure of all the bio, the upperclassman know. i really am enjoying band. our season is basically over, next week is our last football game. i'm not like band obsessive in a bad way, but i think its an amazing thing to be in. everyone who's in it is really lucky to experience such a thing.

anyway, i really enjoy meeting new people i can conenct wel with, meaning band people :) yeh. so im me if you want: rrakusin. thanks :) later guys.

Hey!! my name's Dani..I'm a member of the Stroudsburg High School Marching Band and the SHS Maroon Concert Band. I play piccolo in marching band and flute in concert band. I hope to join Jazz Band this year and play saxophone. I am THE ultimate band geek....my flute's name is Punkin and he gets a full spa every friday night which consists of a full cleaning, oiling, and polishing. I am in love with the music of Robert W. Smith, if you've never heard of him or heard his music I highly suggest you download some, he is a god of band music composers. Some of my personal favorites of his are: 1. Africa, Ceremony, Song, and Ritual 2. Ireland, Of Legend and Lore 3. The Maelstrom 4. The Tempest and 5. Through The Vulcan's Eye. Oh yeah, and on Saturday nights I make sure my piccolo (Sputnik) gets his spa and my marching band shoes are polished...

Recently our marching band competed in the Easton Adjudication. We won 5 of the 6 special awards including Best Drum Majors, Best Music, Best Marching, Best General Effect, and Best Percussion. We also were rated Superior in all aspects of the judging. Superior is the highest rating, in case you didn't know. We were the only band there to receive a Superior rating... :-)

Next month, on November 8th, we are competing in the USSBA Championships...if anyone else's band is competing there, let me know!

We also will be performing in the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in New York City, depending on whether we make the 2nd cut, we already made it past the 1st level. Wish us luck!

Well, that's all for now...stay cool, stay in band... :-P

    x-posted across the land
Hey I'm Jessica from the Pinson Valley High School Marching Chiefs, in Pinson, Alabama. If anyone in this community has heard of us, or lives in Alabama.. please notify me.

I play the Mellophone & my Mellophone's name is Charlie. I'm co-section leader, technically. But since there are 2 appointed Mellophones that are also Sophomores, then we are all section leaders because that's what the actual section leader said. But, it's fun. Because when we have marching sectionals at practice, we take turns marching each other.

It's sad marching season is about to be over. We have Homecoming, our Marching Festival, and possibly a competition at Gordo. But, we're going to be in the 2003 Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NY, so look for us on TV! :) Funtimes.

    About me:
    I am a Sophomore.
    I play Mellophone Marching Season.
I play French Horn Concert Season.
I hope to play Trumpet during Jazz Band.
I hope to be Drum Major next year.
The Mellophone section is the best section in the band. (Quoted by the director)
I won Funniest Female at our Band Banquet my Freshman year. :) Excitement.

Our show last year included: Symphony for Brass & Percussion, Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In, Russian Christmas.
Our show this year included: Carmina Burana, Big Noise From Winnetka, and West Side Story Finale.
Our Macy*s pieces are: Ol' Man River (marching in), Big Noise From Winnetka (for TV), and Jingle Bell Rock (marching off).

    Hello
I'm new here. I've been playing trombone for 5 years now and our band is two weeks away from our marching festival. I'm really looking for a good rating, our band is more organized this year and...it just looks great. The biggest problem I have right now is with the low brass, any ideas on how to get them to keep focused? They keep goofing off and its starting to get aggravating. Also, I have a solo...ugh...is there any way to stop my jitters every time I play it? Its my first one ever and I get a bit nervous sometimes.

Hey, I twirl Baton and Flag at my highschool, but my favorite is rifle. I'm a 4th year senior and about to go away to college. I'm not sure where I want to go, but I know I want to be in the mb or colorguard. I'm also thinking about DCI and/or WGI. I would really like to talk to anyone who is a member or alum or either. Or maybe anyone who has tryed out, or just knows alos about it.
