[22 Jul 2003|01:05am] |
Note: the 23rd of July will be Christmas in this RPG. There will just be a normal Christmas feast for the students who are staying at Hogwarts.
Harry won't be at Hogwarts (he's visiting Sirius), and let's assume Ron and Hermione aren't either.
*waits for the misletoe entries to roll in* Come on people, be creative ;)

| Announcement |
[11 Jul 2003|07:56pm] |
An announcement for all the students:
Christmas will be in 12 days, so if you wish to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas this year, please sign your name on the list no later than tomorrow.
This weekend is a Hogsmeade weekend, so students from the third year and above (who have permission from their parent(s) or legal guardian, of course) will be allowed to go into Hogsmeade this Saturday. You are advised to stay in groups, it is not wise to walk around on your own in these dark times. Be careful with your conversations, remember that not everyone is to be trusted. Constant Vigilance, as my good friend mr. Moody would say.
Enjoy - and be safe.

| Final homework before the holidays |
[09 Jul 2003|06:59pm] |
|
This is a long assignment, I know. I also know that you have all of winter break to puzzle it out, and those of you who manage to do so will certainly be a step ahead when it comes to the final at the end of the term. Remember, the final will be a group project and must be completed perfectly in order for you and your group mates to pass my class.
A Detailed History of the Curse --Chapters 15-22
Curses of the Ancient World --Chapters 12-18
Handouts: --We Didn't Start The Fire, Billy Joel --Desperado, The Eagles --Stairway to Heaven, Led Zepplin --Time After Time, Cyndi Lauper --Yellow Submarine, The Beatles
::Available in Professor Weasley's office is a large box, protected by eight separate and distinct curses, which require antidotes that include aceroot, ear of hedgehog, and yellow daffodil leaves. Some of the curses also include a rather lengthy waiting period, and the final password to open the box is "history." Along with the readings and the hints from the song handouts, he hopes that some people will be able to open the cursed box, which contains a single sheet of parchment upon which he's written "Jeremiah was a bullfrog," which will be the clue to the last step of his final exam.::

I am sorry that I have to do this, but I have to resign. The amount of time that I've been spending online has begun to damage more than my social life, and it's time to withdraw.
It has been fun. I hereby give up Sirius Black.
I have changed the password to escapeazkaban for the mods.

| Megan Jones |
[10 May 2003|01:11am] |
Kym resigned as Megan Jones, so this character is going back to the list of "available characters". She kindly told us to keep her RPG journal ( spellingtuesday), so you don't have to take the journal off your friends list.
|
|
| Important note |
[09 May 2003|06:20pm] |
Because we've recently had some trolling in one of the RPG journals, we're going to enforce a new rule. Everyone must set their settings to only accept comments from people on their friends lists. The way to do this:
1) Go to edit info. Make sure you're logged in. 2) Scroll down until you see "Enable message boards". 3) Set "Who can reply to your entries?" to "friends only".
If someone outside the community left you a comment, please delete it.
Then, a note about the OOC commenting going on. OOC talk goes in the at_chatter community. That's what it's there for. If you want to discuss a plotline, go there. We don't mind a small OOC comment here and there, but at this moment there are OOC threads, and those should go in at_chatter.
If you have any questions or comments, you can e-mail us or leave a comment here.

| Attention! |
[05 May 2003|05:35pm] |
|
Congratulations on completing your first week of classes - to both students and teachers. From what I've heard, everything is going quite well (despite a few mishaps and explosions.) Continue on in this fashion, and I'm sure that we will have a wonderful school year ahead of us!
As a reward for your good behavior, we have scheduled your first Hogsmeade weekend a little earlier this year. Those of you who have signed permission forms may go into town with staff on May 24th and/or 25th. Please note that this applies to third years and above only. No exceptions will be made.
((In an out-of-character note, the mods would like to reinforce that if you do not RP a specific scene with someone or discuss the happenings of the day, you may not make assumptions about events between you.))

Welcome back, everyone! Now that you're hopefully all done talking about your vacations and the new teachers, I'd like to remind you that Quidditch is back, and there will be practices and games this year, as always. There are quite some positions open on the House teams, so there will be try-outs. The positions are:
( Positions )
The try-outs will be on Saturday, the third of May, at precisely 11 AM, on the Quidditch field. You will be using school brooms, so don't bother bringing your own brooms. Please note that first years are excluded from the try-outs.

| Music Assignment, 4/28-5/2 |
[28 Apr 2003|08:50am] |
|
The music assignment this week is Joy To The World by Three Dog Nite. A handout with lyrics will be available in class, and now that someone has suggested having the music available to listen to, all recordings will be on reserve in the library. Listening is not necessary, as I'm sure you all have more than a healthy workload, but it would be lax of me not to have it available.
There will also be a quiz Friday on the Greek alphabet. Extra credit on the quiz to anyone who can tell me what the muggle term "fraternity" refers to and how it relates to Greek.
Have a good week.

Double the potions mean double the sleeping time. Espicially with all the stupid lil Gryffindors sitting right next to me raising their hands at every single damn question. And Weasley is making us learn how to spell the Greek alaphabet or something to the degree. Come on. When am I going to go to Greece and going to right things down so people there can understand it? Yeah, you sure damn guessed it, NEVER. He needs to get some ebtter material. Hotel Califnornia. Jesus.

| Class Assignments |
[25 Apr 2003|09:14am] |
|
(Blah blah fishcakes, not sure if this'll work or not or not or if I'm supposed to do it or not, but what the hell. Everyone in my family is a teacher, therefore I think like one and hell, I just like giving boring-ass homework. ;o)
Reading Assignments, Weeks 1-3
A Detailed History of the Curse, Rhonda Marseiul, 721st edition --Chapters 1 and 2
Curses of the Ancient World, Elizabeth Martineau --Chapter 7
Fundamentals of Greek, Richard Rainwroth --Chapters 1 and 2 --Learn the basic Greek alphabet
Handout on Hotel California by Don Henley
I will stress once and only once that everything you will learn in class will be applied to the final exam. The final exam will be a group test and must be completed 100% correctly in order to pass the class. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.

| For Your Information |
[23 Apr 2003|11:46pm] |
This is Jessica (a.k.a. one of the Three Bitch!mods) writing you all to explain some things about your posts. There are (so far) three classifications of posts. There are public posts--which, when in doubt, all posts are--that everyone can see, and is free to comment on. There are private posts (which will be marked "Private" behind an lj-cut) that are there so everyone can understand what's going on in that character's head, but your character cannot acknowledge it. Meaning: any post marked private is not free to be remarked upon by any character (but you can of course discuss it in at_chatter if you thought it particularly scintillating.) And lastly, as this is Hogwarts, we expect that you will be sending each other owls. Mark them as such either behind an lj-cut (which is preferable) or in the subject line of your post, along with the addressee. Again, these posts cannot be remarked or reacted upon except by the recipient. Hope that cleared things up!
Have fun RPing, blah blah blah encouragementcakes, The Bitch!Mod
